wedding flowers

so my lovely friend Beth (herself a baker - always likes to support fellow creatives) is getting married in Iceland next week and asked me to make some gorgeous silk flowers for her and her bridesmaids to wear on the big day. She let me use my own creativity to come up with something, just giving me a guideline on the colour - "faded ballerina's tutu" she said - I was happy with that!

Here's what I created...

8 cute little rose corsages that the girls can wear in their hair or pin to a jacket...

...and one beautiful HUGE rose that Beth is wearing as a show stopping headpiece
(modeled by me here!)

Here are some photographs from Craft in the City - the last time I ventured out with love u more 'twas a lovely day in a gorgeous venue with lots of nice visitors and at least one very satisfied customer!! see below..

for the love of lace...

from various sources hearing about my very healthy obsession I am lucky enough to have been given quite a substantial collection of vintage lace including original Nottingham Lace from the 50's, and after speaking with the amazingly wonderful Kula Tsurdiu this week I am gathering ideas for a fantastic project of an installation & exhibition of Nottingham Lace within her studio space that i hope to be working on very soon... excited is not the word!! Have a sneak peek at her gorgeous designs &  boutique within the historic lace market here...

two castles in a week!

after a trip up to Newcastle with my part time job earlier in the week I spent a fab (if a little chilly!) day with the MollyQueen Collective at Elvaston Castle Craft & Food Fair. I met lots of lovely customers and one who'd even been admiring my work for a while! Always nice to hear!

love a bit of bridal...

I've finally started playing around with ideas for bridal accessories and this is my first fascinator!! I have reworked reclaimed wedding dress fabric, vintage Nottingham lace & mother of pearl buttons into a gorgeous head adornment, trouble is I love it so much I want to keep it!....

watch this space for very exciting news regarding bridal accessories & keepsakes workshops with a very lovely lady who I met only this afternoon!...feels like I've known her a long time after admiring her work for such a long while now.

springtime in the studio...

now spring has sprung and I can no longer see my breath in the studio! I'm feeling totally inspired... working on new products and introducing more colours to my usual muted palette. Here are a few photographs of the organised chaos which is my workspace!
